Smaller projects run on a straight 50/50 split. Half the agreed fee to book the work and start, the balance when the site is delivered and you are happy with it. Bank transfer or Stripe invoice, whichever suits you.
Larger builds split into milestones instead. Each milestone has its own written scope and its own payment, and ends with something you can log into and use. You are never committing the full budget on the strength of a first conversation.
The fixed price is fixed. If the work turns out harder than expected, that is my problem, not a change request. If you add something genuinely new to the scope, it gets quoted separately in writing before anyone starts on it.
Ongoing support after launch is optional. A monthly retainer covers updates, maintenance, and new features, but it is never mandatory — you own everything and can take it elsewhere whenever you like.
On VAT: the studio is not VAT-registered, so there is no VAT to add. Every price on this page is the total you pay.

Nothing on the right-hand list is a hidden cost. Anything you need from it gets priced in the original quote so the total is clear before you commit.
Pricing questions
Why fixed price instead of hourly?
Hourly billing makes my inefficiency your problem and gives you no idea what the final number will be. A fixed price puts the risk where it belongs. You know the cost before committing, and I have every reason to work efficiently rather than bill for the time it took me to learn something.
What if the project changes halfway through?
Small adjustments within the agreed scope are normal and not charged for. Genuinely new work — an extra page, a second integration, a feature nobody mentioned at the start — gets quoted separately in writing before it begins. You will never receive an invoice with something on it you did not agree to.
Is the deposit refundable?
The deposit is refundable if you cancel before work begins. Once work has started it is non-refundable, because the time has been booked out and the work is under way.
What does a retainer cost?
Retainers are priced against the hours you actually expect to use, agreed monthly, and cancellable. They are entirely optional — plenty of clients launch and never need one. You own the code either way, so a retainer buys convenience rather than access.
Do you work with clients outside the UK?
Yes. All communication is async-friendly so timezone differences are not a problem. I have worked with clients across Europe and the US. Prices are quoted in pounds sterling and invoiced the same way wherever you are.
