A good brief is short. These are the things that let me quote accurately first time instead of trading questions for a week. If you do not know an answer yet, say so — that is useful information too.
What you are building
A sentence or two on the business and what the site or product needs to do. Whether it is a rebuild, a new build, or a feature added to something that already exists.
Who it is for
The customers you are trying to reach and what you want them to do when they land. This decides more design questions than any reference site will.
Timeline and stage
When you need it live and where you are today — idea, half-built, or an existing site that needs replacing. A real deadline is fine; a vague one is fine too.
Budget range
Even a rough band saves both of us time. It is not a negotiating position — it tells me what is realistic to propose, and whether to suggest a smaller first phase instead.
Anything you already have
Current site URL, branding, copy, or a couple of references you like. Links are more useful than descriptions. If you have nothing yet, that is a normal place to start.
What you do not need to do
Write a specification, produce a wireframe, or price it up yourself. If a project needs proper scoping, that is part of the work rather than something to sort out before making contact.

With either questions or a direct answer on fit. If the project is not right for me, I will say so and point you somewhere sensible rather than quote for work I should not take.
Fixed quote in 1 to 2 days
Clear scope, fixed price, and a timeline in writing. 50% deposit to start. Nothing is committed until you say yes to the written scope.
Before you write
How quickly will I hear back?
Within one working day, and usually sooner. If your message arrives on a Friday evening you will hear from me on Monday rather than at midnight. A full fixed-price quote follows within 1 to 2 working days once the scope is clear.
What if my budget is below your starting prices?
Say so in the brief. Sometimes a smaller first phase makes sense — a single strong page now, more later, rather than a stretched version of a bigger build. If it genuinely is not viable I will tell you straight away instead of quoting something neither of us is happy with.
Will you tell me if the project is not a fit?
Yes, quickly and without a sales conversation attached. If the work needs a team, a specialism I do not have, or a platform I would not recommend, saying so on day one is more useful to you than a quote I should not be writing.
Is my information kept private?
Your brief goes to my inbox and nowhere else. There is no form service, no CRM pipeline, and no marketing list. I do not share client details or publish work without permission, which is why some projects on this site stay anonymous.

Written, not scheduled
Email and written updates throughout the project. You read and reply when it suits you, not when a calendar invite says so.
A call if you want one
No calls are required at any stage, but they are not banned either. If a conversation would genuinely be faster, ask and we will book one.

Founder-led, end to end. No account managers, no outsourcing, no message relayed through someone who is not building it.
